Dear Central Public Schools Community,

We have a lot to be proud of at Central Public Schools. Our kids are not just learning – they’re thriving! Our community supported an operating levy and capital projects levy referendum that greatly improved our financial situation and established an innovative technology program, but our facilities need attention. It’s no secret that we have aging facilities with many systems beyond their useful lifespan. Over the last year and half, we’ve worked with community members and identified many areas that are no longer suitable for today’s teaching and learning needs.

On Aug. 9, the school board voted unanimously to put two bond referenda on the November 2, 2021 ballot. These two questions ask voters to consider improvements to all of the facilities in our district, which are facing a variety of issues and deficiencies.

We are proposing a once-in-a-generation investment. Our buildings were built to last, but they need improvements to be able to serve students and meet modern educational standards.

This website provides information about the referendum plan, our current situation, and the process we took to decide on the plan. It will be updated as needed to answer community questions. The school district is required by law to only provide factual information about a referendum and cannot advocate for or against its passage.
